All my bottles arrived sealed no leakage. The smells are great out of the bottle, I liked them all. They are fragrance oils not essential oils, meaning synthetic. Not all synthetics are unsafe and not all natural oils are safe. Still, the one concern I had was the safety of putting them on my skin, so I looked up Barnhouse Blue and saw that their oils meet IFRA Standards. I looked IFRA Standards and found this:"We see fragrance as a safe and essential part of life. The IFRA Standards, based on scientific evidence and overseen by independent experts, aim to make this vision a reality – helping you to feel good about fragranced products and enjoy them with confidence. Well-being is at the heart of what we do. Fragrance has the power to enhance lives and to trigger a range of positive emotions, bringing enjoyment, relaxation or enhanced self-esteem. Across a wide range of everyday products, fragrance makes the difference. Fresh-smelling laundry provides comfort; the clean feeling provided by a fragranced shower gel makes sure you start the day right; your perfume helps you feel confident. The IFRA Standards exist to provide that same confidence when it comes to the safe use of fragrance ingredients. For more than 40 years, the fragrance industry has carefully examined ingredients used in fine fragrance and in the household and personal care products you and your family enjoy, setting rules that are recognized by government authorities and trade bodies around the world and which are compulsory for all IFRA members – who produce around 80 per cent of the global volume of fragrance. Whether ingredients are natural or synthetic, we monitor, test and assess these ingredients and set rules for them to be used safely – helping you to feel good about fragrance, in every sense. The IFRA Code of Practice and IFRA Standards are the key tools we employ to ensure the safe use and enjoyment of fragrance. The Code and Standards are mandatory for all members, including members of national associations, covering around 80% of the fragrance industry by production volume. The Standards are based on state-of-the-art scientific assessments provided by the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials, overseen by an independent Expert Panel.IFRA then sets Standards – limits or even bans on certain ingredients – to help ensure that people can enjoy fragranced products with confidence. We also take seriously our responsibility to care for our shared environment and to be sustainable. This means more than just ‘being green’.Instead, we take a holistic approach to sustainability in all aspects and throughout the fragrance value chain – looking at how we interact with suppliers, customers, employees, communities and stakeholders. This approach is used for the IFRA-IOFI Sustainability Charter, a joint initiative with our colleagues in the flavor industry. We use a wide range of raw materials, sourced from natural and synthetic origin, seeking to deliver high-quality products that respect the environment and communities around the world. It is not a case of ‘natural good, synthetic bad’. Instead, we take an ‘origin-neutral’ approach to both environmental protection and safety assessments.
